About Milolii

Miloli'i bills itself as the "last fishing village in Hawaii" and they might be right. It has the feel of a local fishing village and the fishing heritage is evident. Milolii Beach Park, the main park in this village, isn't crawling with tourists, and you probably wouldn't be comfortable there either, but don't let that stop you from visiting, especially if you like hiking. With a hike of less than a mile from the park you can find yourself at one of the most incredible black sand beaches on the island, Honomalino Beach. It's a stunning setting that makes up for the blight that you'll drive through on the way to the trailhead. Eager hikers can venture farther to a more remote beach on Okoe Bay if they get an early start (day hiking only). Miloli'i is located about an hour's drive south of downtown Kailua-Kona at the end of a steep road that descends from Highway 11.
