Volcano is the town next to the volcano. More specifically, Volcano, Hawaii has the nearest services to Kilauea the most active volcano in the United States and the popular Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. All of the coastal access points near this town are in the national park and the only one that doesn't require a long hike or backpacking trip is at the end of Chain of Craters Road. There you'll find several ocean overlooks, but you won't find a sandy beach. It's a long drive with many sights to see along the way and certainly worth the time and price of admission. If you want to visit the park over several days, you'll find many VRBO and Airbnb-type accommodations in the area. Volcano isn't a destination itself, but the volcano definitely is.
